Cure for the Cold is a campaign designed to raise awareness of issues facing the homeless. This event will provide the community with a unique opportunity to provide aid to fellow community members.
Utah’s homeless population is over 15,000 and rising. Over 4,000 people will spend their nights in the cold this winter. Now YOU can do something to help!
Clothing, Food, and Monetary donations are being collected in various donation boxes around the University of Utah campus and on the Day of Event. All donations large and small will be greatly appreciated. Friday December 4th, 2009 President’s Circle, University of Utah Campus 2:00pm-2:00am Camp out and collect with us! Monetary donations accepted at your local University Credit Union: account name- Cure for the Cold Proceeds will go to benefit: 4th Street Homeless Clinic Volunteers of America Outreach Program The Road Home Schedule of Events:
December 1st 3:30 pm- Donation Bag Dispersal
Meet in front of the west entrance of the library- you will be given bags, a route map, a partner to go with you, and hot chocolate! Invite your friends! Come for fun, hot chocolate, and to be a part of helping those who need it most.
December 4th -5th 2:00pm-2:00am- Cure for the Cold
We will be collecting clothing, food, and money at the bottom of President’s Circle all day and into the night. Come have fun, help out, donate, and “spend one night in the cold for those who will spend many.”
2:00pm-3:00pm: Box pick-up from campus sites
3:30pm: Allen Ainsworth- Director of the 4th Street Homeless Clinic will be coming to speak to us about homelessness in Utah and what WE can do about it.
4:00pm~6:00pm: Donation pick up from houses in the area where bags were dispersed.
6:00pm-1:00am: Music, Hot Chocolate, Donation Collection and Organization
1:30am: Donation drop off at The Road Home
